“Moderate” Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday threatened war over Israel’s decision to officially recognize the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb as national heritage sites.
The Cave of the Patriarchs – the burial place of Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob and Leah – and Rachel’s Tomb are both located in areas that are today controlled by the Palestinian Authority, namely, Hebron and Bethlehem.
Speaking to European Union parliamentarians in Brussels, Abbas said that the Israeli cabinet’s decision to add those sites to its list of national heritage sites is a “dangerous provocation” that will lead to “religious war.”

Syrian FM warns Israel next war will be fought “inside your cities.”
Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday said Israel was not serious about wanting peace, and accused the Jewish state of leading the Middle East towards war.
“Israel is not serious about achieving peace since all facts point out that Israel is pushing the region towards war, not peace,” the Syrian state-run news agency quoted Assad as saying in a meeting with Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos on Wednesday.
Earlier Wednesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem warned Israel that if war were to break out between Syria and Israel, it would be fought “inside your cities.”
“Israel must stop being the neighborhood bully. Don’t test our determination,” Moallem said during a press conference in Damascus where Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos was also present. “One day you threaten Gaza, the next day you threaten Lebanon, then Iran and now Syria.”
Moallem warned that if a war between Syria and Israel breaks out, it would be “total and take place inside your cities.”

Tension between the US and Iran heightened dramatically today with the disclosure that Barack Obama is deploying a missile shield to protect American allies in the Gulf from attack by Tehran.

During a meeting with the visiting Mauritanian president, Khamenei said: “Definitely, the day will come when nations of the region will witness the destruction of the Zionist regime. How soon or late that will happen depends on how Islamic countries and Muslim nations approach the issue.”
The remarks were posted to Khamenei’s website on Wednesday.

At the end of the serial number on Trijicon’s ACOG gun sight, you can read “JN8:12″, a reference to the New Testament book of John, Chapter 8, Verse 12, which reads: “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” The ACOG is widely used by the U.S. military
Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the United States military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.
The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.
U.S. military rules specifically prohibit the proselytizing of any religion in Iraq or Afghanistan and were drawn up in order to prevent criticism that the U.S. was embarked on a religious “Crusade” in its war against al Qaeda and Iraqi insurgents
